Solar Panel Removal · Polk County
Roof replacement, storm repair or an insurance claim. Whatever is driving it, the panels come off first, and how they come off decides whether they still produce afterward.
A roof at the end of its life. Storm damage that forced an insurance claim. A re-roof required before a home sale closes. Structural repair under the array. Occasionally a system being relocated or decommissioned.
Baseline production readings and a full photo set first. Then panels come off handled by the frame, connectors capped, each one tagged by its position on the roof so the array goes back exactly where it was. Rails and hardware are bagged and labeled with them. Permitted electrical work is completed through our licensed partner, so you keep one point of contact from the first photo to the final reading.
Panels stay with you. We stage them where you choose, usually a carport or covered patio, vertical, off the ground and covered. You can see your equipment the whole time it is off the roof.
Storm claims and warranty claims both run on documentation. The photo set, serial numbers and production readings we take are exactly what adjusters and manufacturers ask for, and they are far easier to collect before the panels come down than after.
Most removals are half of a job. We come back, reinstall to mapped positions and manufacturer spec, and verify output against the baseline before we call it finished.
Questions we get asked
Some will, and that is where the trouble starts. Roofing crews are not trained on panel handling, connector safety or warranty documentation, and their insurance generally excludes solar equipment. The removal is cheap right up until a panel stops producing.
Yes, though the longer they sit the more chance of handling damage and the longer you are buying power you could be producing. Staged properly under cover, a few weeks is not a problem.
Yes, and we prefer it. We hand off a clean deck and a mounting map and stay reachable through the roof job so schedule changes do not turn into your problem.
It depends on panel count, roof height and pitch, and the mounting system. We quote after seeing the array. Most homeowners quote removal and reinstallation together.
